SWIM & LINGERIE CARE

Blum’s Care Guide

How to Care for Swimwear & Lingerie

Proper care can help preserve the fit, comfort and appearance of your favorite swimwear and lingerie. Follow these simple tips to keep each piece looking its best.

How to Care for Your Swimwear

  1. Always sit on a towel. Avoid direct contact with concrete, wood, stone and rough pool edges. Swimwear fibers are soft and comfortable but may be damaged by abrasive surfaces.
  2. Rinse after every use. Rinse your swimsuit thoroughly in clean, cool water, especially after swimming in a pool, using a hot tub or coming into contact with chlorine or salt water.
  3. Wash gently by hand. Do not place your swimsuit in a washing machine. Hand wash it using cool or lukewarm water and a simple, gentle soap.
  4. Avoid harsh cleaning products. Do not use laundry detergent, bleach, stain remover, fabric softener or other abrasive cleaning products.
  5. Never store your swimsuit while damp. Do not leave a wet swimsuit rolled up, folded or inside a pouch. Remaining damp may cause prints or colors to transfer or discolor.
  6. Allow it to air-dry. Lay your swimsuit flat on a clean, dry towel. Avoid direct sunlight, and never place your swimsuit in a dryer.
  7. Protect special details. For styles with beads, metal accents, shells, crystals or other ornaments, avoid rubbing, twisting or stretching the fabric around the embellishments.
  8. Use care with tanning products. Suntan lotion, self-tanner and body oils may stain or discolor light-colored swimwear. Allow products to absorb and dry before putting on your swimsuit whenever possible.

How to Care for Your Lingerie

  1. Hand wash with similar colors. Use warm or lukewarm water and separate light and dark colors when necessary.
  2. Wash bras regularly. We suggest gently washing your bra at least once a week, depending on how often it is worn. You may also bring it into the shower for a gentle hand wash.
  3. Use a gentle soap. A mild white bar soap or gentle body cleanser works well for hand washing.
  4. Avoid harsh laundry products. Do not use laundry detergent, bleach, stain remover or fabric softener.
  5. Do not machine wash or dry. Washing machines and dryers may damage elastic, underwires, molded cups and delicate fabrics.
  6. Air-dry flat. Gently remove excess water without twisting or wringing. Lay the garment flat on a clean towel to dry.
  7. Protect molded cups. Do not fold or invert molded cups into one another. This may dent or permanently alter their shape.
  8. Store bras properly. Place molded-cup bras open and upright in a drawer, or hang them in a closet to help preserve their shape.

Please note: Always review and follow the care instructions printed on the garment’s label, as recommendations may vary by fabric, construction and brand.
